Easy Monster Truck Cake

Make an easy monster truck cake for your monster truck fans. This recipe uses boxed cake mix, frosting, and crushed Oreo cookies.

You can customize this cake by topping it with any of your favorite monster Monster Jam or Hot Wheels trucks, like Grave Digger, Megalodon, El Toro Loco, Zombie, or even Bigfoot.

This cake makes a great birthday cake for boys and girls – and even for us big kids too (I have to admit, this birthday cake was for Mama! I love Whiplash and my son wanted to help make me a Whiplash monster truck cake for my birthday!)

Monster Truck Cake Decorations

This cake looks fancy but is so easy to make your kids can even help with making it. My son loved smashing some Oreos and sprinkling them onto the cake.

The great thing about monster truck cakes is that the muddier they look the better!

We used accessories from the Monster Jam Ultimate Arena Playmat & Storage we found on Amazon to decorate this cake.

Chocolate Cake with Oreos

You can get creative and use Hot Weels crushed cars or other monster truck accessories, if you like. This Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Snake Bite, Includes Crushed Die Cast Car.

If you don’t have a Whiplash Monster Jam truck, any of your favorite monster trucks will do.

Easy Monster Truck Cake

Equipment

  • 1 favorite monster truck
  • 2 toy barrels (optional)
  • 2 crushed cars (optional)
  • 4 toothpicks (2 for attaching truck to cake and 2 for the checkered flags)
  • 2 checkered flags (If you have a printer, download the free pdf linked on this page. Then print and cut out the checkered flags to add on top of your cake.)
  • 1 ziplock bag (to crush Oreos in)

Ingredients

  • 1 box cake mix
  • 1 container chocolate frosting
  • 8-10 whole Oreo cookies

Instructions

  • Bake your cake according to the instructions on the box.
  • Let your cake cool.
  • Wash your Monster Truck, Toy Barrels and Crushed Cars. Let dry completely before placing on cake.
  • Frost your cake with the chocolate frosting.
  • Put 8 to 10 Oreo Cookies into a ziplock bag and crush them (this part is fun for your monster truck loving kids to do!)
  • Sprinkle the crushed Oreos on top of the iced cake.
  • Place your barrels and crushed cars on top of the cake.
  • Put two toothpicks under your monster truck to hold it in place on the cake. Then put it on the cake.
  • Print out your checkered flags, cut them out, and glue them onto toothpicks. Place the flags onto the cake.
  • Enjoy!

Notes

We used accessories from the Monster Jam Ultimate Arena Playmat to decorate this cake. You can get creative and use a Hot Weels Monster Truck that includes a crushed diecast car or other monster truck accessories, if you like.
